This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    every time i start windows, or run a set up program for any program it says "the application or DLL C:\windows\system32\riched20.dll is not a valid windows image. please check this against your installation diskette"
    what does this mean? whats the problem? how do i fix it? i JUST did a reinstall of windows twice and am starting to get pretty pissed, its been about a week and two instaltations of windows and i still cant use my computer.

    k, lol, your right, i should have. That same error occurs every time i start up too, that isn't addressed in the page. but here are some other problems; In internet explorore 7 every minut or less i cant connect to web pages. it just gives the standard "cant find this page" screen. if i just close the page and reopen IE this fixes it, but it makes surfing almost impossible, since i might be typing (like here for instance) and i loose everything when i try to post it. Also, COMDO personal firewall (the free one) wont start up anymore. when i click the icon the loading page starts, but then nothing comes up... There is another error i am getting but i cant remember what it is... :eek: basicly my comp is becoming unuseable again, after the second try reinstaling windows. (the first try was pleaged with spyware, a nasty virus, and two trojen horses that spybot coudlln't remove, worse yet i cant figure out how they got on, the problems started immideatly...) I would just reinstall, but i've tried that twice and it has been a huge waste of time! its been a week and i haven't been able to use my laptop! :(
