    I will be buying a Dell Inspiron 1720 soon and will be replacing the hard drive with a different hdd. Dell will include an OS recovery cd, but I don't think it's the Full OS and they certainly don't have product keys.

    the product key will be on bottom off you laptop

    it will be oem product key that work with oem disc


    the recovery disk most like do not ask for key

    So if I install a new hdd into my laptop and use the recovery cd dell includes. I will have everything back to normal?

    just pop those cds dell gives you in and it will install vista with all dells software pre installed just like when you get the laptop just use the numbers on the bottum of your laptop like andyasselin said
