    Hello,

I received my E1505 couple days ago. As usual, my laptop came with a lot of software. I want to reformat my hard drive. If I use Dell's operating system disk to reformat the hard drive, does it install the blotware too or does it just install window XP media edition? Please help?

Dells OS disk is not really an OS by itself like what uwould buy from a store. Its pretty much just an image of the Hard drive as it came from the factory, so all u can do with such disk is reinstall all that the computer came with. Its not a disk to install win xp by itself.

actually, it is. the dell os disc is an actual xp installer. the programs and bloatware come separately on a disc entitled "dell utilities and applications" or something like that. all you need for a clean reinstall is the xp disc, cyberlink powerdvd to play dvds, a drivers disc or the downloaded drivers off the site and you're good to go.

just make sure to follow southerngirl's guide posted by Sephiroth

The CD that comes with your system that has the title "Windows XP Reinstallation Disk" is a lone Windows XP installation, just has a different face on the CD, a Dell face rather than the reflective stock XP CD's.

I noticed that my Dell OS MCE2005 CD actually had a few bloatware. Weird.
