I always get my notebook turn off at me whenever I am playing games. Is there some sort of low battery warning on screen display (OSD) that shows while you are playing a game and battery went low?

Most laptops manufactures supply something like this already, but if you are in a full screen mode, they might not get displayed. If yours doesn't have it, the BatteryBar professional does.

Also, all the laptops I have used also use the battery charging light to do this. They change the colour of the light, or they flash it or they do both. I generally find that as noticeable as the pop-up.
