How would I be able to obtain a 64-Bit version of the Vista Upgrade DVD I received from Sony? Would I have to contact Sony, or Microsoft?

Try going here and using your product key:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/1033/ordermedia/default.mspx

That will allow you to order the 64bit media provided that your key is licensed for it. I think OEM is tied down to either 32 or 64 (not both)...and by starting with 32bit I think that's all you can get. But, I might be wrong...so check that site.

In all likelihood, you can't. I'm assuming you are referring to the Express Upgrade DVD you received. It's up to the vendor if they want to offer a 64-bit disc, and almost none have (ASUS maybe?). The exception is that systems that shipped with XP x64 get Vista Business x64 upgrades. Otherwise, you're pretty much SOL, as OEM's (such as Sony) son't want to support the more arduous upgrade path to x64 and the software issues that come with it.

You can TRY going to the Microsoft Alternative Media Order webpage at www.windowsvista.com/1033/ordermedia , but in all likelihood, it won't accept the Vista key you have because it was issued as part of the Express Upgrade Program.

You also could borrow a 64-bit disc from a friend, or obtain one... some... other... way... and see if it accepts you key. It might. I haven't heard of anyone trying yet.

Sorry, but good luck on your quest.

edit: night2004 just beat me... but I don't feel like editing, so...

You're both right, unfortunately you can't. Thanks for providing the link to check .
