This problem has been bugging the hell out of me for month now. Synaptics has a virtual scrolling feature (bars on the side of the touchpad) that has another feature called coasting on top of it. If you are scrolling down or up/side to side and lift off, it continues on. The coasting feature really bugs me, so its always disabled. The problem I have is SOMETHING keeps re-enabling that damn coasting feature. No idea what program it is since it has been happening over such a large time period, but at least once or twice a session, I will have to go in and re-disable the feature.
I am using the newest Synaptics drivers from Synaptics.com for Windows XP. Machine is my trusty T60. I am not using the Lenovo supplied touchpad software because it is an outdated version, and scrolling is all but a choppy mess that doesnt really work. Hard to think back, but I recall the coasting issue cropping up even with the Lenovo drivers.
What in the hell would make this feature keep coming back? I dont understand what program if any (besides a virus) that would repetitively change driver settings for no apparent reason.
