I had a incomplete project which was going on. I emailed it to myself and sent it in my hotmail. Then I went to my university, I directly opened the file from the hotmail, then completed my project of 2.5 hrs then I saved it. But I feel stupid that it was not saved in the physical disk as I opened it directly without doing save as but I just did "save". Now I dont know where the file is?
So can any one help me how to retrieve it or is it not possible?
Plz reply fast as I have it due with in next 2 hr or I will be screwed up.
Thanks![]()

(1) Were you using your own computer or the ones in the library?
(2) Do you have the original copy of the file?
If the answer to (1) is your own computer, then there is a possibility that your original file could have been saved in the updated version - the version in which you completed the project. Another possibility is (assuming that you have not used CCleaner or any such software) that the saved file may be in the temps folder. I think one way to access this is to go to Start (or the Start orb in Vista)>Recent Files (recent items in Vista) and see if you can identify the file from there. If the file is on the system, then it SHOULD come up....Of course if you were using a library computer, then assuming that you remember which one you werre using, you could try the same thing, but your chances MAY be lesser for obvious reasons.
The reason I asked for (2) is because, if the first option fails, you may have to go and redo the project.
BTW, have you checked your hotmail account and the attachment in that mail that you were updating - whether the file was updated? I assume you have else you would nto be posting this issue here.
I am sure other NNBR members more knowledgable than me would be able to help you out too...
Good luck! -

Anyways... use the method described by linesofsight. If that doesn't work, and your temporary files are disabled, you can recover it using some "undelete" tool assuming that you haven't over written the tempfiles.
Also, try using the "search" function. -

Thanks for your suggestions but I found it myself. Well I was using a library computer and was aware that if I open the same file from web then it would replace the original saved file. I tried searching with the filename but no luck. Yet our library computers dont allow using temp or any other settings and are restricted so I used the admin password as I used to work in my University lab in past. Bingo the password was same. I went to Temp Internet Files. And my luck that there was just a single doc file in many thousands of files but the filename was totally different. The filename was like 3-4 lines long. When I saved that to desktop it changed its name automatically to the default project name. I am feeling lucky.
Anyway thanks for ur suggestions guys. I really appreciate that. NBR Buddies Rules

Sure man. Thanks for the suggestion. By the way what is office live? Is it a software built into office or a website? Just to be safe in future.
