I searched the net and could not find a similiar post or case so I I figured I would toss it up here and see if anyone had any Ideas.

I activated the trial of office when I got my laptop 2 weeks ago, I just received the office Key from School to unlock it to a full version, however, when I go to the activation assistant, the only thing the update link does is open a blank word doc. When I go inside each office program and go to resources under program options and click activate, the Vista cursor just spins for a couple seconds then goes away and nothing happens....

Any Ideas on how to activate office? I don't want to do a full reinstall if I don't have to, I just installed adobe master collection and everything is perfectly integreated, I would like to avoid tearing everyting apart if possible.

The key you get from your school is for the student edition...you have to download or get the actual student edition.

I have the student/home edition, I don't even get to enter key stage :(

If you click on the link to activate through the Office Activation assistant, it just loads Word to blank page. If you try to update through any of the office programs nothing happens when you hit the Activate button..

Only thing I can think of off hand is that I have disabled UAC, and I read that messes up some programs, and Yes I tried to renable UAC and still the same results :(

Download a new installation file from microsoft's site.

This is what i did for my Enterprise edition:
    1. download from internet.
    2. install
    3. activate using the key

do i need to overwrite all the programs that are already installed or can I just run the installer, add something small I did not add last time and activate?
