Boot into safe mode and the admin account should appear. Select it andwhen windows starts go into the user settings and delete the new account. That should leave only one account.

Also, before that you could try to set the option to auto login as administartor using TweakUI from Microsoft.

If you log in as administrator you should be able to access all your old files, and transfer them into the somewhere else, and then just create a new user account for yourself. - so at least you don't lose your files.

That happened to me once, I made a new profile to install some software and then it crashed and all hell broke loose. Basically i found what I recommended to you was what solved my problem.

    Glad I could help.

As far as I can remember, when you delete an accout, it asks whether you want to delete all settings and user files. If you said yes, there's not much you can do.

If not, it is all located in Documents & Settings under your old username. Just copying it to your new account should work. Make sure your new account has administrator privileges enabled too. (Windows is pretty crippled otherwise)
And the administrator (that is, the account with the *name* administrator) account always exists, and can't be deleted, as far as I'm aware. And since it' can't be deleted, you can't create a new of them again either. But it tends to be invisible. If you make it show the login screen when it boots, you should be able to select it.

If you're running xp pro you can access the admin account in regular mode by hitting ctrl+alt+del+del at the login prompt. type in administrator as the account name and password if the account has one.
