So for a few weeks I've had this weird problem. After a while of listening to music, gaming, blah blah my sound would hit minimum levels. Like I mean cranking my speakers all the way up (I have z-2300s, so if I did that normally the police would be on their way) and cranking the computers volume level up all the way makes the sound barely audible.

This happens randomly, like after a certain amount of time. It works fine and boom at some point the soundlevel drops off immensely. yet my speaker level is still showing that the sound level is being outputted as it should be. Then finally at some point i get no sound at all. I try to use Itunes or stream video and they simply stop, and then my sound level is showing that no sound is being outputted.

Only way to fix it is to restart and then its normal again. This is so random because it happens no matter what I do and randomly. Even if I leave my computer idle for a while when I come back it will be gone. I have the newest realtek hd audio drivers. Vista home premium.

Her idea is good. But also try to use the integrated speakers and see what happens.
