If you're running with 2.5gb of RAM then your chipset probably isn't THAT old... you can probably install it. Who is the manufacturer and what is the model number?

....and...what? Is there a question here, somewhere?

I've run Vista on anold p4 2.4ghtz cpu, 1 gb ram, and an ati mobility 9600 for two years. It works....ok. Not great. OK. It will not be screaming, but it will be functional

    It'll work.

    I've tried Vista Beta 2 on - 1,6GHz Pentium M, 512MB RAM and a 910/915GSM Integrated Intel graphics card - it worked!!

Obviusly - not great, but it worked.

    So it'll work.

I've run Vista on an older Alienware (1.8 Pentium M, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB 5400 RPM drive, Intel 910 graphics) with good results, but had a serious problem using the laptop on battery because of a lack of chipset drivers for the motherboard. Check the manufacturer's site for drivers. If they have Vista drivers, go for it. If not, you might want to shrink your XP partition and dual-boot until you know if it works.

Vista runs fine on 2 Gb netbooks, with the Atom processor. I have Vista running on a P4 3Ghz with 1 Gb of RAM and it runs great. Obviously I'm not simultaneously running iTunes and rendering images in Photoshop, but for the most part performance is better than just "it'll work."

If you want better performance than that, you can always Vlite your Vista.

    2.5 gb >> 1 gb

I think it should run fine. I'm not sure whether or not your graphics card will be capable of running the Aero interface though.

Is your processor a dual-core? If not, you might be hampered a bit more by that. But having 2.5 GB of memory is great for Vista to run with.

It'll work fine, I'm running Vista sp 1 on my 2.6 GHZ P4 with 1 GB fine. Just don't try any really intensive games xD
