My friend's father has asked me to come in and take a look at these old computers in his business. They are all very old desktops running Windows 2000 and they have between 128mb and 512mb of RAM. He just wants me to clean them and see if I can make any speed improvements. He doesn't want to purchase new computers because they only use a few pieces of software on them.
I've cleaned them up and removed the dust from the fans, etc as well as using ccleaner and Windows Disk Defrag on them.
Any other tips that are safe to try on these old computers that might help to give them a little boost?
After working with these computers for a few days, all I can say is I sure am thankful for the improvements that have been made in technology since then and my laptop feels like a super-computer compared to those old clunkers![]()

See if theres any startup programs or windows services you can turn off in msconfig

The absolute best improvement you can have him do is invest $100 or so in RAM if it's available. Increasing the RAM on all of the machines will breathe new life into them.
