Omegadrivers.net is down at the moment. Does anyone happen to know if this is a temporary bandwidth problem that will bring them back up next month? Is there an alternate download-location for these drivers?

    Thanks.

I would just like to say that I found an alternate link at guru3d.com. Thanks anyway.

I have a couple questions, as I've little (no) experience with the Omega drivers, plus I just got my new dv4000 and it has an ATI X700.

1.) Are the Omega and Catalyst drivers offered compatible with both desktop AND notebook GPUs?

2.) I checked my current Catalyst driver, and this is the number that showed up: 6.14.10.6564. I'm assuming this is HP's version of the ATI Catalyst driver, I just have no idea which version it is (must be old though since the date of the driver is 6/20/05). Which version of Catalyst is this?

3.) Should I decide to try the Omega drivers, do I need to unistall the current Catalyst drivers first, or do I simple install the Omega over the top of the current Catalyst?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

1.) Yes, they are both compatible
2.) If i am not wrong, you are reading off the driver version, not the Catalyst version.
3.) Yes, you need to uninstall your current Catalyst drivers first before you install your Omega (Just to be safe).

Do you know where/how I can determine exactly which version of the Catalyst driver I've currently installed?

I am not sure if you even have the Catalyst set... does your ATI control panel shows Catalyst anywhere?

I've no idea how to tell for sure. Everything I can dig up refers to ATI but I cannot find anything that specifically says Catalyst.

How can I tell for sure? I don't have the ATI control panel, best I can tell anyway.

i'd unsticky this thread.. it's a common fact that omega drivers suck for mobility cards, they work for one from ten notebooks.. stick either with the drivers from your OEM or if you are looking for better drivers use the official drivers..
omega, dna all those custom drivers = bad.. well they are not even custom drivers.. the drivers are exactly the same, they just come with additional tools and changes that often cause problems. so

Now, dutty when you already mentioned. You know that one guy was asking about missing Timings tab in Omega's drivers? What if Omega sets latencies that work on most of notebooks and then disables tab in ATT? Haha. Nobody thought of that.

Don't take me too seriously. But... :D

BTW I was using omegas for a long time. Since Ati released mobility drivers I switched. I don't remember some special big problems with it. It worked OK. Maybe some people still like Omega's drivers. (they are smaller in size too - no CCC) :)

    Cheers mate,

we are facing problems on x200m on windows 2000 (not a great graphics card though) and would like to check if these omega drivers may solve our problem.

sry for reviving old thread, but I have a question. In add/remove in control pannel i just ran/removed the ATI uninstallation program and after i restarted the resolution changed. Is it fine if I uninstall omega now? Or was I suppose to only remove the CCC? In other words, I uninstalled the entire ATI program.

This is only a guess on my part as I've not ever tried anything other than the ATI drivers, but I would assume you'd want to remove all traces of the old driver before trying the Omega driver. Worst case scenario is you can simply download and reinstall any missing components should you find this not to be the case.

    Good luck :)
