On the Mac I used ScreenShade. What about on Windows?

On the Mac I used ScreenShade and what I liked about it was the fact that you can control the brightness with shortkey without using cursor to adjust the brightness.

I am using Pangolin Screen Brightness but there is no short key for it.
Does anyone know a Windows brightness program that does have short key?

yea, windows. if you're asking about the toshiba in your sig, the keyboard shortcut is 'fn + f6' or f7. the utility you're currently using is designed to control the brightness of multiple displays.

Most manufacturers install proprietary bloatware as well that gives you a degree of control using the hotkeys. You'll have to refer to their software for hotkey info, if applicable.

That adjusts the brightness only to a certain point and can't get any lower than a pretty bright screen in total darkness.

I'm looking to use it in total darkness or just faint light, and the lowest increment is still too bright, and so needs aid from software like PangoBright.

Unless PangoBright offers greater brightness range control, that shouldn't be the case. Turn the brightness down as far as you can with the hotkey combo, and check the brightness adjustment in Windows Control Panel, within Power options. If the slider is not all the way down, then something else may be overriding it's lowest threshold - either PangoBright or some other proprietary software.
