I need to stop stealing music!! I know this sounds lame but I am too worried to download more illegal music until all of the blows over. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what was the best online music store. I am looking for cheap songs and a wide selection. I would rather not have to download another program. I am using Songbird so I dont want something like napster or itunes. Anyone have a good site?

Amazon.com has legal, cheap mp3's. No DRM, no hassle. Last time I used it the selection wasn't iTunes level but it is good enough for me.

How much money are you planning to spend in a month on downloading music? If you buy like 20 songs per month, consider the zunepass ($20). You get unlimited music download to listen for a month + you can keep 10 songs of your choice every month to keep forever.

most of the on-line stores have all-you-can-eat membership options. Plus there is always the local pawn store and used record stores. Lots of people putting their collections up for sale these days.

I also use Amazon MP3. There have only been one or two things I wanted that they didn't have.

I use iTunes, can't buy in amazon here in switzerland, and iTunes has a huge amount of music (unlike most local stores). No DRM since january, great quality.

other than that, i use beatport.com for electronical stuff.

I buy from Amazon. Most of their MP3's have 245-320 kbps maximum bit rate and DRM free.
