Are the commands for Open Office CALC the exact same as those for Excel?

I am thinking of learning Excel since many college classes and some jobs require it but I only have quattro pro on my computer and Calc from Open Office.

If CALC and Excel are the same then I won't have to spend money purchashing MS Office then. Let me know!

I havent found any functions that aren't available in OOo that are in Excel.

Why don't you try OOo on whichever computer you're posting with? That would be my best suggestion.
