well, I read through the sticky and decided to give Open Office a try instead of looking around to see if I have M$ office. well, I downloaded it (using IE7, as firefox had problems downloading it). well, after instaling it and running through thw wizzard, everything seems well, then it wont open. there is a problem with the OS version of OO. Im running Vista home premium.

what do I do, I downloaded OO from the link in the sticky.

Have you tried the different programs in the OO suite(writer/calc/impress etc) and see it they open up?

Make sure that OO didnt minimize to the taskbar.

Also try a reinstall(restart after uninstalling it).

If it still doesnt work, try the portable version of OO(no install) from portableapps.com

Try clicking setup in the folder.

Also make sure that you are logged in the admin account or runnning the program as an admin(right click the file-run as administrator)
