This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Hey guys, looking for an alternative to skype.
    Ive googled around for it, but the results... dont really make sense to me. I just need something to make international calls through my computer to land lines. Cheaply.

    Anyone using anything particularly good.

    And, i know a popular Linux one, Ekiga Softphone, has a new Windows Beta version, anyone try that yet by any chance?

    skype is pretty decent in international pricing - webphone is another alternative, yahoo messenger can also be up there., U just need to verify the rate from these services in any giving day and see who offers the best connection price - might also want to check your mobile service, they r starting to offer a one-stop shop for all calling needs

    Skype is the best. I once tried NetZero and had nothing but problems.
