    Hey guys,
Just wondering if there is a open source program out that for organizing, viewing, and doing some light editing that is about as good as picasa2. Picasa seems fast and good... but... i just dont like mainsteam software... i like my programs to be as light as possible.

    Thanks!

Haven't tried this myself yet, but I've noticed this tool called Paint.net popping up in several places lately. It may not be "open source", but it is free to use.

I find Picasa extremely light. It does what you need, and is pretty snappy about it. Plus, it is very robust in its feature set.

I wouldn't be biased against mainstream software. Just use the best program, for the features, that you can afford. But, to each their own, I guess.

Paint.NET is open source, but AFAIK it's an image editor, not organizer.

Yeah, i just downloaded paint.net. not quite what i was looking for.

And Picasa2, yes it is fast. But its the features at the bottom to upload to blogger, or webpics, and the other. I just feel like its trying to suck me into googles other products and services. So i dont know what else is hiding in there.

I usually prefer opensource software if i have the option between two programs, but if not, im not denying that there are good mainstream programs out there.
