Its just one thing after another. OpenCandy is, in my definition, spyware. It installed on my computer without permission (this was during the time of my fresh install when I was re-downloading my softwares).

I get this error when window starts up

Yes, I've used google and done a couple suggestions. The registry keys opencandy tells me to remove are not in my registry. I removed any empty registry pertaining to a lot of the suggestions I've seen and I've also used RegTweaker in safe mode and not in safe mode. I've also removed opencandy folders from my appdata folder.

I dl a program that searches my computer for dlls and I couldn't locate anything.

What I've noticed from the processor is that the rundll32 command line is empty. If I can tell that dll to stop running at windows start, then maybe I can get that error to go away. but how?

You'd use regsvr32 /u whatever.dll to unload the dll. At that point though it's too late, you need to weed out the files from that program.

If you really can't find the dll use hijackthis or something along those lines to find your startup items.

This should really be posted in the windows forum, your thread is going to be neglected here in the ASUS section since it's really not on topic. If you want it moved just hit the report button [IMG]. Good luck.

thx and I will be needing extra help. The regsvr I'm not sure about. I tried typing in the dll name but its sooooooo long that I'm sure I might have made a typo somewhere but I made sure not too.

--how will the difference of O and the number 0 look on the window error? I noticed CMD had a slash in the number 0. but I think those are O's in the error---

also, I couldn't tell anything on hijack this. here is my log MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Why not run a Malwarebytes can / Spybot S&D scan. If it really is spyware that should remove it.

Yea, something already removed it which is why its not running. I used norton 2011 which came with comcast, I used hitman pro 3.0, I used meleware bytes. I've also used melware bytes in safemode.

The spyware was removed but it left traces. What I need to do is stop that error message from appearing when I start windows.

edit - I'll try the spybot s&D scan now.

edit - Yea, nothing found after upgrading it.
