Since I installed SP2, my T61 has been reacting a bit differently.
Office would take a bit longer to become responsive and I can't even open msi files(eg. eset installer) anymore.

I figured it might be the thousands of registry keys that CCleaner found after the installation of SP2 that caused all this, so I undid all the registry changes.

MSI files stilll can't be opened. Please help.

Sir, what's the error message that you get when you try to open the .msi files?

A windows that asks me to choose the type of file to open the msi file or to search the proper way to open it on the web. When I chose the type to be Windows Installer MSIEXEC.EXE, the following pops up:

i don't have vista at hand right now to export you the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Msi.Package and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.msi info to give it to you.

but google those up, maybe you find info about them.

    my Msi.Package\shell\open\command has it's default value set to "%SystemRoot%\System32\msiexec.exe" /i "%1" %*

    maybe that helps

So I assume you think that CCleaner corrupted/messed up something in my registry?

My Msi.Package\shell\open\command has the same value as yours. I couldn't find anything productive about the other values when I googled them.

I don't recall tweaking anything in the registry before this and my copy of Vista came preloaded with the laptop.

    Yes I do.

Am I supposed to verify the values that you provided above? I can't find them no where.
