Haven't tried opera in a few years. I guess I can sum up my thoughts by saying I haven't been back to firefox since I downloaded it here recently. I seem to have it fairly tweaked up but one issue is eluding me. I have an 18.4" screen and the address bar ends up being over a foot long on screen leaving the search box next to it about long enough to type 2 words. I would like to reduce the length of the address bar and use that space in the search box. Anyone know how or if it can be done? TIA

Alright krabman, first give yourself a tight slap for ditching Opera and so much as looking at Firefox.
Now, right click on the search bar, go to Customize, and click on Remove From Toolbar.
Now, go to Tools, and the select Appearance.
Select the Buttons tab. Now, click on the Address Bar once, and then select Defauts.
Select the search box with 4 little dots on it's left, and drag it and put it where the old search box was.
Click on OK.
Nao, go to the search bar, and drag it by these 4 dots to as much as you want!

Thanks for that, didnt work though. Im not getting the four dots.
-
Which version of Opera are you using?
-
I'm 9.64. I don't have the search box with the 4 dots when I get into appearance, only the same unstretchable one. Oh, yeah, I already gave myself a Homer style headslap when I noticed how much faster opera was than the current version of firefox.

It is only in the latest versions of Opera, the Opera 10 alphas.
-
K, thanks anyways. Guess I'll have to do a search and see how they are liking opera 10.
-
Or you can ask me!
-
lol, um, so silas, how do you feel about the beta 10 opera build?

They have added a spellchecker, and the UI so far is the same, but they hired a big-wig designer long time ago, which leads me to believe that there will be a new skin/layout when Opera 10 final is released. And of course, you can change the layout/skin to what you want.

Thanks !
One other thing I would like to see them change is to allow us to move bookmarks links up or down as we please. As of right now when you activate the Personal bar it puts all the links in alphabetical order and you can't drag them around or at least I haven't figured out a way to do that yet.
Recently IE8 has replaced FF3 as my favorite browser with Opera in a firm second. Still, Opera has the best smooth scrolling of the three and I still dig Speed Dial. -
It can be done so easily, just drag the links around. -
What i'm referring to are the links within a bookmark group. For example if I create a bookmark group called Sports. Now I create 4 links withing that group called:
Football
Cricket
Motorsports
Baseball
In Opera Baseball would be the first link in the group followed by Cricket etc. If I wanted Football as the first link in that group Opera doesn't allow me to drag Football to the first spot. FF and IE both allow you to drag groups and links within a Group. I hope I explained myself a little better than before. -
Cool, but it doesn't let you sort drag them unless you go to manage bookmarks whereas FF and IE lets you drag links within the group without having to go to organize bookmarks.

Opera address bar help please.
