Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

The result I get in IE8 is around 15Mbps and the result I get from Opera beta is only around 7Mbps.

Don't forget you're comparing IE8 to a beta version of Opera if I got that right.

If you haven't noticed, I'm already a IE8 user. My primary browser is IE8. Opera is my secondary browser that I use at school. Since I have to set proxy server..etc at school, I don't want to switch the settings around. So i'm using IE8 at home and whenever and Opera at school.

I'm just wondering if anybody else is having the same problem on Operal

Yeah, I noticed that too, which is why I kinda stopped using Opera. I really like the looks of the latest opera though!

really? i use opera because it loads stuff faster than other browser (yes, even firefox for me), and has builtin mouse gestures so that i dont even have to aim to go back/change tabs/close tabs... my mouse rarely moves when i'm browsing

my download speeds through opera are the same (using speedtest.net or dslreports.com give similar results)

It's already been 10 posts and we don't even know which version of Opera we are talking about. I'm using Opera 10 beta build 1589 as my primary and it is faster compared to IE8.

the screenshot above was Opera Alpha (well, i have Opera 9.5 as my standard browser, and www.kejut.com/operaportable 's Opera 10.a as my secondary browser when i dual screen)

i've installed Opera 10 beta and enabled Opera Unite, ran speed test again... samething.... no decrease in speed (well, if someone was connected to my opera unite, i'll get some decrease... but not as dramatic as half)

Nobody was connected to my opera unite either. For some reason, Opera beta is just have this speed issue. The result is reproducible as well.

That's weird; I'm not having this problem either. It's a shame as Opera is a very nice browser. Have you tried posting at the My Opera forums?

All of us have reported to not have this issue. I have tested every Opera 10 build since it went pre-alpha and it is by far faster than Opera 9 and IE8.

It seems that Opera is not the problem here, jackluo923. Secondly, we have not specifically deduced what is causing your installation of Opera to run snail slow. Did you tinker around with anything in opera:config?
