I want to clean off my old laptop and completely reinstall XP. The problem is that I bought the laptop through my university and the XP installation cd did not come with the laptop. I've seen where you can make your own from the i386 file, unfortunately mine does not have the i386 folder.

Most downloads like this are only the service pack, but this website seems to offer the entire XP cd. I've downloaded the second one on the list (retail version has been taken down) and it's almost 600 MB. Does anyone have any opinions on this? I wanted to post here and see what you guys thought before trying this.

Thanks in advance for any replies!
    Matt

Official XP versions that are only available through demonoid torrents....
Sounds rather fishy to me and I'm really not sure if these versions are legit.
While there might be some versions that are real; without any rootkits buried deep inside, I would be wary of using these OS versions.

P.S. Keep in mind that discussion of illegal software is not allowed here on NBR, check the forum rules, so expect this thread to be closed soon.
Although I understand your predicament, you are better of asking somewhere else I'm afraid.
    Cheers.

Right I wasn't sure if this was allowed or not since it isn't a torrent download or anything like that. I was unaware as to if this is considered illegal software or not since the site says Microsoft released it to those sites. Particularly this part..."it (Microsoft) has released the full installation CD ISO images for .Windows XP with Service Pack 3 on MSDN and TechNet subscription site."

I appreciate the reply, though. Moderators please close this if it is not allowed. My apologies.

Yes this site is providing direct links to illegal copies of copyrighted software. As stated above, the discussion of illegal software is not allowed on NBR so this thread is now closed.
