I have an xxodd 8252d version and i wish to upgrade to 64 bit vista since i have 4gb ram in this laptop and a turbo cache in which are being a waste because of the 32bit cap![]()
The only problem i have is if my drivers would support vista 64-bit...in the manual they mention these
Microsoft Windows* Server 2003
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition*
Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition*
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft windows Vista
This is the driver version.i think the only compatibility issued i would have is with the intel driver since the others are just lan drivers and g-card drivers in which would not give me any problems to install on 64bit (i think)

have u tried to look under Mitac or Clevo forums?
many users had success in using XP64bits drivers and manually install them thru device managers under Vista
cheers ... -
What do you mean? i cant post there i think since my laptop doesn't go under that category:S or do most laptops use the same drivers except there own modded graphic card drivers?
-
Actually, I believe the xxodd 8252d is a Mitac laptop.
-
mitac and clevo DO have model called 8252D, same specs
my beat up medion has the same spec as a Sager
just a suggestion of crosschecking device and drivers
cheers ... -
u dont need to post there, just browse around the download support area

well i found some info on that site but the only thing said about the intel chipset driver is that it supports windows vista doesnt mention 32 bit and 64 ...bdw i was thinking...my laptop came with 4gb ram and a chipset that supports 4gb ram and a cpu that supports 64bit too..so why wouldnt they make the drivers compatible with 64bit?
What do you think if i try to just google the chipset drivers and see what version they are?or maybe should i just search for driver from the control pannel of windows vista? -
ur system is 64bits ready. issue is device drivers availability. not the chipset driver. as mentioned above, u can just search for XP64 bits drivers and then manually install them via device manager under Vista
cheers ... -
what you mean install xp drivers on a vista platform?:S i have never done that before
Don't you think that device manager could locate driver automatically and install them for me? (excluding sound card drivers and video card drivers)
Os driver support (xxodd laptop)
