    Other than games, what software which speed and performance heavily depend on 3D video card?

    Video encoding, editing and playback, 3D rendering, etc. Unless you're a creative professional of some sort, you're not going to need a high end 3D card for anything other than games.

    Any program that has any kind of graphics will utlilize the video card.
