Can anyone explain to me the purpose of Outlook 2007? The program is 100$ and yet Vista comes with Windows Mail. So why would anyone spend 100 bucks for Outlook 2007?

I'm not attacking the program, I'm just asking out of curiosity.

    Thank You,
    -Taylor

Outlook 2007 does a lot more than e-mail and calender. Just go to the MS office website to learn more about it. Itgs a great program though, and had a lot of functionality, tasks, calender, notes, etc...

You're right though, with the new windows mail and calender unless you specifically need tghe features that it offers then you may be better off just going with mail and calender.

It does have a lot of nice collaboration features... and the tasks unit is vey handy.. But I may just buythe Home and Student Edition this time. I've been using outlook for years and don't use half of its features.

I purchased the Home and Student Edition yesterday. Needed it for a college class. I just don't see me needing Outlook. Thanks for the reply :)

Btw I love the avatar. I never even thought of spongebob being evil.

Yeah, But I don't think its essential anymore with Windows Mail including a calender. Plus, you've gotta use Windows Mail for newsgroups anyway - though Outlook does have an RSS reader.

I've still got a copy of MS Office pro 2003 some I'm trying to decide if I want to update to 2007. I'm using the trial I got with the computer - it doesn't come with outlook - and I'm not sure I'll use this time around.

Its a great program- but if all you need is a calender and email application... you can use the windows sidebar notes gadget for tasks
