I installed outlook 2007 and somehow it automaticly starts up when booting windows.

Is there a way to disable this?

(I tried looking in the options and I tried msconfig startup (it's not in the list))

Much appreciated, because it's driving me crazy

Go to the following location and see if it's in the startup folder...
    Just replace yourusername with yours...

Try this. But before you change anything, make sure to export it first.

nope that was the first thing I tried, it's not in the list

Ehm that looks dangerous lol, I never tried to change the registry. Can you clarify what you mean with "export" first?

I btw just tried that, but the outlook "run" isn't there... So back to square 1. Is there an option in outlook 2007 that will let me deactivate the automatic startup? An option I maybe keep overlooking?

Just export the registry to, say, the desktop, so that if you have any annoying errors after removing some keys. Playing with the startup keys in the registry won't break your windows install... at the most it'll make a little box pop up with an error when you log in.

    Export here...

Now make sure you select the range is all, like shown in the red..

still +rep for the big effort ;)

It's not a big issue, I can always close it manually or uninstall outlook and re-install. But I just wished that outlook would be more user friendly. Not going to happen apparently

What do you mean by manual? I'm going to try your suggestion, I'll keep you all updated :)

I just tried it, it's not in that list too. I have officially a weird computer :( it's btw a legal (student) version of Microsoft Office 2007.

Do you have Google calendar installed? It will automatically start up outlook to sync the calendar.

    Just on a side note...
Outlook never automatically started for me.

    Neither as 2002 (??), 2007 or 2010 - and Home & Student 2007 didn't come with Outlook.

Hmmm strange, mine came with excell, access, groove, infopath, onenote, outlook, powerpoint, publisher and word. It's a student version from my university.

Now I'm on windows 7, so I'm really flabbergasted why it's always there on start up when I can't find an option or find it back in the start up menu.

Maybe my alienware m11x is possessed :(

    That's not a "student version".

Its possibly the "ultimate steal" offer which is an offer for students - but not a student version.
    Small but significant difference.

And when people mentioned things like Google - think which programmes work with or need Outlook, and you possibly found your culprit.

    Maybe try these suggestions?

    I did some googling...

Well :) I think you're wrong (about the student version one)
I tried those suggestions already, unfortunately doesn't work :(

    OK...
So shutting down other start up applications doesn't work - strange indeed...

    And about the media:

Home and Student was only Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote.

"The Ultimate Steal" was technically Office professional at a low price for students.

Now why yours say "student application" I don't know...

Maybe Belgium is just different :) well here if you buy the student version of office 2007 you always get this version (office 2007 enterprise, student edition)

    For example:

I can't even find the option to make outlook autostart. Is it possible some other application use MAPI? Like calendar gadget or google sync.

What OS are you using if it's windows vista, you can disable it through control panel - system and maintenance - performance information - manage start up programs.
