    Hi to all,

I have a very annoying problem with Outlook 2007. It's not common, but sometimes when I open it, It just hangs in the logo screen  , and I have to terminate the application in Task Manager. Then, when I'm opening Outlook again, It asks me to open it in safe mode, but, hangs again. The only way is restarting the laptop, and It backs to normal.

    Any suggestions? What's happening?

I have two extensions installed: the avast antivirus plugin and Adobe PDF.

    Thanks in advance...

I am somewhat suspicious of the avast AV plug-in. But, have you run the Outlook repair function? It is different in Outlook 2007 that it was in prior releases. Locate SCANPST.EXE on your PC and run it.

I had a similar issue with it; it would hang after it started up and i tried to do something like open an e-mail, or close a window...what i had to do was uninstall it and re-install..idk if that might fix ur issue. Did u check for Windows Updates?...that might help also....

EDIT: FYI:- I originally needed updates for my issue..i think it was Outlook SP1 i needed..i downloaded and installed it, restart the comp. and that still didn't fix it. My fix was re-installing.

Mine used to hang occasionally on startup too, the splash screen went away and in the left corner of the outlook window it would say "databinding" I have no clue what that means, but I had to open Task Manager and force it to close. Very Annoying! Never had to restart the whole computer though...

Mine just "hangs" period cause it is loading up my old emails and downloading the mynew emails. I have to give it a minute to catch its breath, so i just stop by here while that's happening.

Thanks for your answers. I have Office SP1 installed. The issue is happening about two weeks ago, and It's not common.

Are you getting any of those .od/.tmp.cvr file pairs in your TEMP folder? They sometimes provide more information, but usually just make for more questions.
