In the mailbox views, the default is to group by date. I can change it so that single folders do NOT group but just sort by date, but how can I apply this setting to ALL folders?
Also, I have 2 mail accounts with Outlook 2007. Is it possible to display them under 2 separate Mailbox nodes in the tree? Currently, both accounts send mail to the same Inbox folder, however I'd like to have them go to separate Inboxes.

regarding views, i'm afraid that changing all folders at once is not possible (i tried to find out how to do it as well, after we switched to MSO from Lotus at work, but the "official" reply from the MS guy was "sorry, it can't be done").
and regarding inboxes... i'd suggest using filtering rules, in case that noone suggests a better solution -
- Tools>Rules and Alerts
- Click "New Rule"
- Select "Move messages from someone to a folder", click next
- The 3rd option should be "through the specified account". Check the box next to it and deselect the first box. Click the blue text to select what account you want. Click next.
- Choose where you want the mail to be sent. Click next.
- The last page has some basic settings, and that's it! -
I think it is possible to change this setting for all views at once (well at least for incoming messages, this will not change your sent items folder). It can be a little tricky, but here it goes.
- Select your Inbox
- Open View -> Current View and note which of the views you have selected. Probably this will be Messages, by default.
- Switch to another type of view, for example, Messages with autopreview - your Inbox should be displayed differently. It does not matter what you choose, but do not choose the view type you noted in the previous step.
- Now go to View -> Current View -> Define Views, should be second from bottom
- From the list, select the view you noted above, for example, Messages and press Modify
- Press Group by ... button and from the window that appears, remove the checkmark from the top box (should say something about automatic grouping)
- Press OK then OK then Close. This will close all 3 levels of dialogs. Do not press Apply view button!!
- Nothing should have changed yet. Now go to View -> Current View again, and switch back to the view you were in, for example, Messages.
- You should now see your Inbox, without grouping. If you change to another folder, that should be displayed in the same way.
This "trick" can be used to change many of the settings (preview pane, sort order, etc) and apply them to all folders. I did not find any other way to accomplish this easily.
