    Hi, I have a few mail account and folders + sub folders running in outlook and it really is a pain in the to always collapse the "Outlook Data File" and expand all my other mail accounts/sub-folder. Isn't there a way to save the status of those folders everytime I restart Outlook?

    thanks

    You mean Outlook 2010 right? Your default mail account that you set up in your default profile should always be expanded and at the top of the list, and individual folders being expanded/collapsed should be saved.

    1. Make sure you're not in shortcut view
    2. you can open outlook via the run command outlook.exe /resetnavpane to reset your nav pane to default.
    3. If that doesnt fix it, try creating a new outlook profile and customizing it the way you want it, close outlook and see if your changes arent saved.

    Okay I will try it. The thing is, I also want all the folders inside my account to be expanded (also from my secondary account).

    Plus: Can I somehow remove/hide the "Outlook Data File" ?

    Alright I somehow did it. Not the exact solution I was looking for but I could live with it.

    Anyway, I am not sure if I will switch from Thunderbird to Outlook.

    Outlook:
    Feels slower (whenever I click on a Mail it takes 3 seconds to load.. folder takes 10-15 seconds)
    No google calender sync (except with an external program running in the backround)

    Thunderbird:
    Takes up a lot more ressources

    @edit: Another question:
    How can I tell Outlook to use a proxy/socks ?
