    Hey all,

I'm at my mom-in-law's, and they have lovely wireless service in their house. I'm connecting fine - otherwise I wouldn't be able to ask. Web access is fine, as well as my incoming mail to Outlook. However, whenever I try to send mail, I get an error that says my outgoing server can be found but isn't responding, or that it simply can't find my outgoing server.

When I was at my own mom's, I had to use her dial-up. I couldn't send mail from her house because of the "relay" issue - no one would accept my mail that appeared to be coming from a different ISP. Is that the same issue here, or is my ISP truly having a problem? Any ideas? Thanks!

That is probably the same issue. With DSL it's generally more of a problem than cable. Just switch to their SMTP server and you'll be fine. The alternative is to use a web-based client, there are many of free ones if you do a search.

To me getting your mail on the web is preferable. If you get a virus, it is on their computer and not yours.

Thanks. I do have a Yahoo account that I used to use (pre-notebook) whenever I traveled. I just thought it would be easy to continue to send/receive on my regular set-up. Ah, well. :) Appreciate the advice, thanks again!
