    Advice needed please.
I am now the "Tech" guy for my office. Trying to put together some ultra specific guides on how to access programs, etc. on our network. I am trying to find superior screen capture software which will allow me to show exactly what is on the screen at certain points in the process. Need enough resolution that I can process each image.

Any really good choices which are not too expensive (I am paying for it, and not my agency.)

Thanks very much. I am so new to Vista that I haven't taken the time yet to explore it, which is something I need to do soon. Didn't realize these options were there.

Image capture for now. A good example of what I mean is preparing a short tutorial for admin/on call to read email at home from their computer. Some of the drop down dialog boxes, and other screens can be confusing to most people where I work since they are not clear on where exactly they can find what boxes to check. This is why I want a good quality screen image capturing app which will allow me to work with the image after it has been captured prior to putting it in my tutorial.

For Video Capture get: Tech Smith's Camtasia Studio
For image capture: Tech Smith's Snag-It

Vista's snipping tool + Windows Photo Gallery

    All you need
Photo gallery provides basic tools to crop and rotate your pictures. I personally use FRAPS for my screen captures, but that's mainly for the videos.

For Vista, +1 to snipping tool. It does a great job.

As far as previous Windows OS, +1 to Snag-it/Snag-it Studio. It is great for creating tutorials.

    Lastly, if all fails...try Snappy 95 :)

Google it. It is an old venerable screen capture/ video capture program that has been used for ages by PC gamers. The most useful feature it has is that it displays your FPS (frames per second) on the corner of your screen.
