I just purchase a netbook that doesn't come with a disc drive and it keep bugging me to burn a copy of the recovery disc out from the harddisk. Apart from purchasing a USB external disc drive, the alterative is to get hold of Apple remote disc software to run on my netbook. While searching this forum, I found a closed thread that failed to answer the question and even end up insulting the poor guy who asked:
just a simple question.
is there a PC equivalent of macbook air's remote disc software ?
PS. must be wireless solution, not ethernet sloution
Thank you for your time
For these people, I like to point out that sharing a network drive isn't the same as Apple remote disc software. It has to emulate the shared network drive as if it's a local drive so that burning application can be tricked into using it. This is what netbook (or any laptop that doesn't come with a disc drive) will need badly. So back to the basic question that nobody has able to answer yet: Is there PC equivalent of macbook air's remote disc software?

btw, I found this website which may be able to answer my question: http://jasonevangelho.com/2008/11/0...emote-disc-dvd-drive-sharing-non-air-macbook/

The question IS answered... you share the root of an optical drive over the network, connect to it wirelessly.

But anyway... if you can get the recovery image as an .iso file, then I'd just copy that file over the network to your other computer (with the CD burner), and then burn it there.
Or... there may be a way to "burn" a recovery USB flash drive... here's an example for one netbook... others may be different but maybe you can find something on Google that applies to your model.
