Just got done replacing vista on my laptop with XP and everything for the most part works except for 2 issues I can not figureout!

Got all my drivers installed and everything is pretty much working from video playback, music, text files, pics, internet. Everything is working as it should in that respect.

Now I install WoW and get it all updated. Start up the game and my jaw drops at how much smoother the login background animation is compared to before with Vista!
Login and select my old server and as the environment is loading and people's characters are popping up I get disconnected from the server and now discover I have no internet connection.
Tried a few things and the the only way to get it back is to shutdown the laptop and toggle my DSL modem off/on then start the laptop.
Tried that a few times with the same result.

Now digging through the device manager trying to find whats wrong I find the only driver that is not updating and I can't find a replacement for is the "PCI standard ISA bridge"
    Here's a pic:

I click the reinstall an run my pile of discs, windows and hp updates and nothing is found.

I just can't figure out what to do with this! I WILL NOT go back to vista without a fight!

    System specs:
    HP Pavilion dv9700t
    2.5Ghz Core2Duo T9300
    3gb Ram
    System Board: Quanta 30CB V.79.29
BIOS: F.59 A (newest from HP)
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS (newest driver from HP)

    Edit:
Went from Vista Home Premium to XP Pro Sp3.
Already tried disable/enable and the uninstall/search for new hardware methods.

the driver that is needed isn't for the PCI Standard ISA bridge, it's for a device on that bridge.
Do you have an ExpressCard or PCMCIA card slot? I don't see a controller for PCMCIA devices listed in DM.

It has the Expresscard/remote. I think I've used it maybe once in the months I've owned this laptop.
How would I go about making the system detect what exactly it is that's missing so I can try finding a driver for it?

    Edit:
Alright. Fixed that. Found some drivers that worked.

However I still have the issue where I loose my internet when trying to play a game online...
I can open my browser and type these posts, I can download, I can watch youtube. But I loose all connection when I try to play WoW.

Does it happen to both wired or wireless adapters? Or just if you're on wired?

I don't use any of the wireless stuff on the laptop. I always use the ethernet cable to the dsl modem.

Interesting issue I discovered last night.

I logged into the game and tried loading a character that I left out in the forest. Game loaded up no prob and I was able to run around kill stuff, check my mail, etc etc. So I tried changing to a character that was in a city and I got booted and lost connection.

Ran the Blizzard repair tool and it didn't find anything wierd. Checked for any updates or new drivers again and nothing.

Basicly when I try to enter a city in the game (what I assume is a heavily loaded server with all the peopl) It boots me.
Only thing I can think of is that something liek my ethernet card and/or video card drivers aren't working right. It's just that everything else seems to be working flawlessly.

    All problems are now fixed!

Problem was with the game. Bizzard's tech support website suggested a few things the 1st being to delete the "cache" folder. Did that and all is well.

Been a couple days now and I've been putting the laptop through it's paces and I am very happy with the results!

The laptop restarts MUCH faster. It now takes about 45 secs where with Vista I could hit restart go make a snack and come back a few mins later to the splash screen.

It now runs much cooler as well. The fan rarely ever comes on and the latop is usually cool to the touch. With Vista the fan was pretty much on all the time and laptop felt warm.

I have yet to have the laptop crash, any program become un-responsive, slow downs, no studdering audio, no studdering video. Everything just works and works how I expect it to.

Many thanks to goofball for helping point me in the right direction with the missing hardware.
