It is generally felt that PS can do more, provided you are going to take the time to learn it. For basic stuff though they are probably about equal, with PSP getting the edge in ease-of-use.
Maybe buy a book on photoshop and see if it's capabilities are somethig you would use? -
assuming you have to pay for whichever one you're gonna get.. Also need to take into consideration that PSP is an order of magnitude cheaper than PS

what is PSP X?

Paint Shop Pro

i think he's talking about paintshop pro and photoshop.
i first looked at the title and was thinking playstation portable -
so did i, and now i feel stupid, thank you
i prefer photoshop. -
) 'fixing' and sometimes I try and get creative with Layers and Vectors and such .....
Persoanlly if that was my buisness or a part time buisness and I had a Digitial SLR (really want one) - PS would be they way to go. As a hobby no need to shell out extra $$$ - Gimp (which is free) would likely do
I think as mentioned here the general consensus is
PSP is cheaper / easier to Learn / many features
PS - more $$ / bigger learning curve / more powerfull / more plugins available
I was thinking of PSP X (Corel bought them out - not sure how that will affect the product ) - did you use 9.x ? find much of an improvement ? -
I'd say, save some money and get 9. -
Cool thx for the that info .... -
I personally use both Photoshop and PaintShop Pro but I prefer Photoshop. However, I only have access of PS on campus. There definitely is a huge difference in price and of course the two programs are suited towards different types of users, PS being the professional end while PSP is quite affordable towards the everyday user. Sure Photoshop has much more features but it also takes that much more time to learn to use and in fact many features are already on other programs for a much more affordable rate. There is probably no question why, Photoshop is the industry standard but really, there are other programs that will suit everyday people's needs.
Here some other alternatives:
Photo Impact - Surprisingly, PSP seems much more popular than this even though I find this program to be much better and also supports layers, and has more features than PSP, I believe they are both relatively the same priced
GIMP 2.0 (free)
GIMPShop (free) - This is actually a hack that makes GIMP 2.0 have an interface look pretty much like Photoshop hence making it much more easy to transition.
PSP or PS
