I backed up the data HDD (second) drive in my Asus, replaced it with a Sandisk II extreme then attempted to restore the files (the second HDD was in a USB enclosure on another HDD). I came back 3 hours later and it was at an astounding 230% (50 GB appeared restored out of 80 GB ). I canceled Paragon program (it was running in Windows 7) deleted everything off the SSD. The I put the original HDD in the enclosure and did a windows copy and paste successful in about 1 hour.
Moral - Time to find a new backup/restore program... :hi2:

Sounds crappy ... hate that sort of scenario ...
I'm pretty big on full system "imaging" and so thought I'd say a bit ...
I nightly back up only certain important files ... game saves, outlook .pst files, project files, etc. ... this is not what I mean by "system imaging" ... this is simply daily backups of a few important files and to handle this scheduled sort of daily task, I use a program called "Syncback SE" ... it works really good, though isn't the tool you want to do full system images that you might want to restore later ....
For full system imaging, I've used Acronis for the past three years with perfect results ...
Acronis backs up you entire disk ... boot sector and everything, sector by sector ... so that if you have a disaster and need to restore your entire system ... you simply boot from a boot CD and restore the image ...
I've used this with a 1TB RAID 0 array on my desktop machine, like I said, for over three years (both v12 and v13) ... and I've literally restored over 10 times with 100% perfect results ...
I'm freakishly OCD over my computer and just the slightest bit of persistent problem will see me restoring from my last good image ...
Acronis ... it costs a bit of money (but not bad) but it's totally worth it ...
Best of luck -

I use Paragon Migrate OS to SSD - System migration to Solid State Drives (SSD) - Overview
it's a one time payment but well worth it for the hassle it saves me -
Macrium reflect is what I use~ Best thing is that you can access the files in the disk image.

Unless all of you here provide further info on how you made your backups, there is only one way to make a sector-by-sector image backup.
It is especially true for W7 and above, XP is not affected.
