I've seen thinkpads run osx. I've read how they did and it seems to be a headache. Can't I just run a virtual machine with osx on my thinkpad using parallels? The other way around was easy on my mac.

Not specifically, at least as of yet, there aren't any virtual machine programs that fully emulate the Mac hardware in order to run OS X (and there's some question about how this would be done).

There were some rumors about this after some discussion about how Parallels and VMware were talking about Mac OS X virtualization support, but it turned out they were actually talking more about the ability to do virtualization on a Mac (i.e. to run "virtual Macs" within a Mac OS X system), not the ability to emulate the Mac hardware on a PC.

So at least as of yet, the answer is no. There isn't currently a Windows version of Parallels or VMware capable of running OS X.

Having said that, it would be interesting to see someday. I remember when Jobs first came back to Apple, he wasn't using any Mac laptops, etc. He was using a ThinkPad running OpenStep.
