I just received my new Inspiron laptop which is running Vista. I tried to install Partition Magic on it but apparently the software is not supported by Vista. Are there any alternatives to Partition Magic I can use?

Maybe you can try Vista's Disk Management. It's a little slow but it works.

is there a free had partitioning software that doesnt involve a boot cd or whatever? that basically functions as windows disk management, but better? cuz my m1330 has unallocated space, where right clicking only gives me the options of viewing the properties. i also cant alter the F: drive, which is low on space apparently, and theres quite a bit of unallocated space.

I wouldnt go deleting any partitions. Dells puts a partition for your recovery and another partition for Media Direct. If you delete your recovery partition you may not be able to reinstall without a reinstall cd. The Media Direct on the other hand, BLAH, I use windows Media Center, but you may want to keep it. Gparted all the way.

While Partition Magic may be better (I have honestly no idea) the number of times I actually need to repartition makes paying for software to do it just not worth it to me.
