I want to get rid of the hidden recovery for xp on my thinkpad. I now installed Vista. I need help getting a software that works on Vista and that would help me gaining the 5gb that's lost to XP hidden partition. Would I need to reformat later? I don't have the Vista key on me.

There's an option in BIOS to hide the "secret" partition. Disable that and it should be fairly simple to get rid of the partition. (At least that's how it is with mine)
Of course, in my case, roughly 16 hours after deleting the partition, I mucked up my system so badly neither Windows nor XP install CD's will boot... Could have used the recovery partition now.... -

You would be better off using a specialised tool like partition magic
