    Is this possible? Partition Magic supposedly does it, but it isn't compatible with Vista. I made the mistake of installing Vista before I partitioned my drive. :(

    What is the operation? Have you tried Vista built-in partitioner?

    Click on Start --> Right-click on Computer and select Manage.
    Then, Storage --> Disk management

    But that tool is mainly for expanding/shrinking partitions.

    To shrink the partition, you may need to temporarily stop using a pagefile. It may exist near the end of the existing partition and is not a moveable file making shrinking the partition impossible. Use the search box at the top of the page to find a thread which discussed this issue at length. As I remmebr there were a couple of other non-moveable files mentioned as well.

    I've always believed you can't touch the partition that your current OS is using though. Did that change?

    I would actually like to remove all the partitions I have except for my Vista and Recovery partitions.. I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1520 so I have Dell Media Direct on another partition.

    Problem: When I pop in my Vista CD, I see 3 partitions. When I go to Disk Management thing, I see 4, one Vista, second recovery and 2 nameless. Weird.

    If I delete the other two, will the extra memory be carried onto my Vista partition?

    Yes, it did under Vista. It can actually "touch" the partiton the OS is using!
