What's a good partitioning tool for 7? Acronis doesn't work and the built in one doesn't let me resize Windows to 100 GB.

Gparted loads before the OS is loaded so it really doesn't matter what OS you have.

OK so do I need Linux for Gparted, or can I just have 7 and use it?

And the error I get is that I partition, it reboots, doesn't resize or anything, syncs with OS, and I login, and nothing happens.

OK did that, and it said I have 465 GB unallocated ...

My entire hard drive is 465 GB.

I will run it and see, but just for clarification Windows' built-in DOES work, it just doesn't let me shrink the Windows partition to less than 50% of the physical drive.

OK thanks Indrek, I think that the file thing is what is happening. I tried defragging with Defraggler, no success. I can only allocate ~230 GB for another partition.

gpartd and partition magic (pmagc) have both been updated in the past few days.

Also, when you defrag set the windows paging file to the smallest possible. Let the defrag program play with all of that space. Afterwards, reboot then readd the paging space.

Got Acronis to work. Apparently I had to unplug all USB stuff. Also, I ran in Windows XP SP3 compatibility and Administrator, even though my UAC is set to the lowest. Hmmm, oh well problem solved, but thanks for all the help!
