    hi nbr,
    i am a noob,i have bought an WD 320gb passport external hdd. i want to password protect it.means that when i connect the drive and when click the icon on my computer it must ask password to open the drive...i am not intrested in encrypting the files ..so please provide me a way or software to do this..coz i live in a hostel were my roommates are keen on knowing my personal infos

    Since you rule out encryption for whatever reason (Truecrypt would work nicely in your situation), you'll have to resort to "security by obscurity" measures with software solutions.
