I just get new Dell M1530 with Widow Vista Home Premium. It is my first time with Vista. I’m setting up the laptop. It goes fast and some of the items one minute are there and before you turn round are gone or correct him. I miss something in the setup process. This is now the problem:
Every time I restart the computer manually or after download the screen come back in to window with my user name and require me to enter my password.
    How can I correct it?

I have many different programs from few years back. How can I find out if they will n run with Vista Premium?

try start -> run -> "control userpasswords2" and uncheck the option to input a password.

The only real way to know if the program will run is to try to install and open it. You can also try running in compatibility mode if that does not work initially.
