I have files to put onto DVDs or CDs that I would like to have password protected. I use TruCrypt for files that I choose to leave on my computer, but I would like to be able to password protect an entire DVD and have only people that have the password be able to open it. I have seen ways of doing it, but they would require the user to have certain software on their computer. I did a Google search and found a program that CLAIMS to do this (EncryptX ~$60), but I'm not sure how well it works and was hoping one of you all had maybe used a similar type of program. Obviously we aren't talking about free programs here, so I'm just looking for an affordable program that does this and works well.

How about just password protecting zip files/folders, before burning it to the cd/dvd?

    cheers ...

If I used WinZip to password protect the files would I be able to open those files w/o using WinZip? That's what I'm trying to do is have the files be able to be opened by anyone I give the password to without having to use extra software.

ZIP files are being standard, any packer/unpacker that supports the ZIP format will be able to access the files with proper password

    cheers ...
