I don't think so, because what's stopping someone from holding down the power button until it turns off? (Or unplugging/taking out the battery).

if they arent computer smart, i wouldnt assume they know how to shut down computer. plus wtf kind of prank is that.

if you are afk, why not just "lock" the computer. so they need to type a pw..

They could, but my little cousin keeps shutting down when I'm not looking and I can't have that happen because sometimes I haven't saved projects that are up on my comp. There really is no way to do this? I think it would be an easy feature to add

seems like someone cant handle a little cousin and cant discipline him to stop. ;)
instead of a app, jsut tell him to stop...if he doesnt, take action. lol

You can remove the power options from the start menu with a group policy.

    how do i do this?
Yeah this kid is a little difficult to control. He does it when i'm at work, so I can't really keep an eye on him, and everyone else is downstairs while he is upstairs.
I just thought it was possible to stop him by taking this action.

    1) get a post-it note
    2) put a scary face on it (clown maybe?)
    3) place it near the power button

    child psychology ftw

There is a quick solution. HACK WinBubble.

Although it was designed for Windows Vista. (Hiding the Shutdown button and options in the start menu in Windows Vista) You can do it also in Windows XP. How ?

    1. download and install .net framework. As you will noticed, WinBubble 1.71 has no errors anymore, If you will open in XP. why? Currently I'm developing WinBubbleForXP.

    2. Go to Security Tab. Find "Hide Shutdown button and..."

    3. Click and press "Alt-A"
