How do I password protect my external Western Digital hard drive? It didn't come with any software to do this but I was hoping I could just download some software to perform this function. I don't need to encrypt the data. Just password protect. The main reason I want to do this is because I don't want people taking my hard drive and using it on another computer.
    Thanks,
    Tim

i just recently purchased a WD passport and have wondered the same thing. I saw a few trialware programs but offer limited uses before expiring. I used to have a lexar jumpdrive that offered a password portection, havent seen it offered for download to a hard drive. If you find a way, let me know and GL

    found this: http://www.lexar.com/drivers/files/JumpDrive Secure 3.3 Software.zip
not sure if it can work in a hard drive sceenario. I will try later.
