I'm new to windows 7, but not at all new to computers. I just bought a new ASUS G60 about a month ago but now there are times like today when no matter how I entered my password it was rejected. Tonite I rebooted 5 times and then it suddenly accepted password It drives me totally insane to never know when, if ever, I can get the password accepted.

ANY, I mean ANY suggestions, thoughts, or theories are most welcome.

Ok, so what you are saying is that to log into Windows, you type the password (that you set?), and it won't let you log in?

Are you sure Caps Lock isn't on? Or Number Lock if you use the full keypad?

Did you try changing the password?

Does it happen if you try and boot into Safe Mode?

Has it just started to happen recently? Maybe a System Restore might fix it if so.

Do you have an active Anti Virus running? And have you check your system for any viruses?

There is a lot of information you left out. So if you haven't done any of the above, I would suggest trying them and see if it doesn't fix your problem.

This sometimes happens to me too! The NUM Lock key will sometimes be activated without me pressing it, and I don't have the space for the numpad, so I end up with a wrong password. So just do what xTank Jones16x said.

Maybe the keyboard connection is wonky? I once got locked out of my online bank account because my keyboard was screwed up when I set up a new password. One stupid shift key...

Thanks very much everyone I have done all of the above right now, and nothing appeared to work until 10n minutes ago. The only thing that I didn't do is a system restore since I never made the restore dvd, plus this is a brand new system with about 10 hours on it.
I am so ticked off in such a major way with this that now that my new password seems to be set I will now promptly reset it. Since I feel like I am in a hostile battle of wills with my computer right now, I will think of a short, but potent password that reflects that feeling.
    Thanks again everyone.

    The laptop is that new?

Hell, if that was me I would of taken it back to where I bought it by now, demanding they fix it.

Did it work with a USB keyboard? It sounds like it's a faulty keyboard you have. If it's that new, it should be under warranty.
