My friend forgot her password to login to her pc. She runs windows xp. I can't sign in as administrator because she used all of the possible attempts to do so, so a clean install of xp isn't possible either. How do I "hack" in?
Should I reformat the hard drive with my computer as an external?

Used all the attempts? I don't think that exists in XP. A clean install would of course be possible if you forgot your password.
Past that, we are not allowed to discuss password bypassing here at NBR. Sorry. -

well, you should always be able to boot from cd to do a reinstall.

As mentioned, we do not allow discussion of bypassing security meaures for any reason.
@Hep. There can be a lockout if its apart of a domain or an Account Lockout Policy(Account lockout threshold) has been setup via secpol.msc...if its a non-business computer, neither should be enabled.
