Hi!
I have tried Windows 7 two times, the first time I tried the 64bit version, but that version was to incompatible. The second time I tried the 32bit version and that was really a relief!
But.. I have performance problems with it, everytime I install something ''heavy'' like MSO 2007 or Avast or UT2004, my laptop slows down and it takes too long! I'm using Vista at the moment and it's a big difference! When I installed MSO on my Vista installation it took +/- 1 minute and at the time I was able to do different things (multi task), but with W7 it really took more than 5 minutes and I wasn't able to multi task.
But also with other things I can feel a performance issue. When I'm starting up a program like iTunes or Adobe Photoshop CS4, it takes a lot of time (for a SSD) and I can't multi task and my system is freezing for a second or what.
It lookes like my SSD is choking when I'm using it in W7.
Does anybody know what's wrong with it and if there's a solution for it? I don't think it's my SSD, because Vista is blazing fast on it. Maybe a configuration option?
Here's my system:
Lenovo SL300
Intel Core2Duo T5670
2GB DDR2 RAM
MTRON MOBI MSD3525

Maybe you can give me more information so I know what I'm looking for?
I clicked on your link, but I can't find threads with Windows 7 and SSD performance problems. -

hm. as it's an mtron you shouldn't have such problems. first suggestion:
bios update and firmware update. then check if your drive somehow runs in pio mode (happened sometimes in xp for me). would make it much slower. the other thing is enabling disk caching / advanced disk caching in the device manager. may help, too. -
Yeah I know, that's why I don't understand it.
When I have installed W7 again, I'll go have a look in which mode the drive is, I thinks that's the cause of all the problems. Drive caching was already on, so that couldn't be the problem.
Can I see in which mode it is in Windows itself or do I need a program for that? And if it's in PIO mode, how can I switch it to the good mode (AHCI?)? -

partially in the bios (but as vista has no problem, it should not be there), else on the s-ata port properties in the device manager, i'd guess. no clue, actually

Hm okay, but thanks anyway!
When I looked it up, I will post here.
EDIT: Allright, I've installed W7 again and I tried various things to get the most performance out of it.
What was the problem? I hadn't installed the Intel SATA driver! Such a simple problem, so difficult to find out.
Now with the SATA driver installed, my system is as fast as with my Vista installation, I can multi task and it never slows down!
